I loved trying stuff from the Milpitas location, so I'm happy they opened this shop in San Jose although I think the ventilation could be a lot better. It felt like a greenhouse in here; I don't think it would hurt to put on air-conditioning from time to time. I don't know how people were able to sit and work on their computers because I was sweating immediately when I came in. Temperature aside though, this place is decorated in a nice way; it's visually aesthetic. My cousins took photos here. They ordered a bowl which they seemed to enjoy. The portion is big as well. There are a lot of offerings for health foods. I think that the spin of mushrooms and other alternative ingredients to normal suits makes them stand out. You simply order through a kiosk. We waited around 10 minutes for our bowl. Their service was good. All in all the only pitfall was the environment, but luckily, we just left after we got our food.
My friend and I were craving acai bowls in East Bay, so we decided to check out RAW on a whim. It was the best decision for a hot day and with the options available, we were both pleasantly surprised with how sweet and great the fruit toppings and base were! I'm excited to go back and check out the smoothies and other bowl options here. The seating was also great and well lit - perfect for studying or working.
I came inside RAW to try some banging customizable acai bowls! I really like the bases here -- there's lots of vibrantly colorful and visually pleasurable layered combinations, like the tropical yellows of passion fruit and mango, hot pink of pitaya, and electric blue of spirulina. They're also frozen ahead of time, which makes it icy and sorbet-like. However, they only offer a limited pairing of base combinations, so it's not fully customizable. And they're always out of a handful of combinations -- seriously, every single time I go some of the bases I want are sold out. One time they even told me after I had already placed my order that the base I selected was out. C'mon now, don't play with me like that! On my last visit I got a build-your-own bowl of the pitaya and mango bases with toppings of chia pudding, mango, strawberry, hemp granola, and almonds. Neither the pitaya nor mango bases are overly sweet, and fondled my tastebuds with their soft, icy touch and delectably juicy, vigorous tropical fruit flavor. Getting the chia pudding is a must if you like the texture of these little clear crunchy balls in your mouth. The rest of the toppings are all neatly cut and arranged, and taste fresh. The interior has some nice decor but it's really hot and stuffy inside. The fan is blasting but it's not doing much, the place needs some AC. It even makes the tablet you order on super hot to the touch. UPDATE: After reaching out to the business owner, they very kindly made things right by offering a replacement of the bowl base that had run out after I had already ordered (which resulted in me having to choose another base that I ended up not liking). It's clear that they genuinely value customer satisfaction to a high degree, proven by effort and actions -- it's easy to support these rare kinds of businesses!
I went to RAW today to try out their drinks. When i walked in, the ambiance was spectacular. Very well furnished with great aesthetic. When I went up to order I met this lovely young man named Huy. He was well mannered and respectful but also seemed like whatever he said was genuine. It was a great experience. Will come back again.
I wish there was a location closer to me because I prefer Raw's açaí over all the other options available in South Bay. I feel like the bases have the best flavors and I love all the other drink and food options available that set raw apart from the rest. I've been to the other locations and this one is my favorite and consistent. My usuals are the collagen latte, raw bowl and the mushroom toast. Today I added chia seeds my latte and it's was so good. I love that it's not too sweet and the cardamom really brings it all together!
I love Raw I love Raw I love Raw I love Raw I love Raw I love Raw I love Raw W ACAI BOWLS
O V E R V I E W: i came to RAW last year when they first opened and remembered loving both their acai bowls + matcha drinks. to preface, their matcha drinks do not taste like matcha at all and have a strong pistachio flavored matcha (even if you get their normal matcha drink), yet somehow i still find it yummy! D R I N K: *magic matcha: 7/10. again, there's basically no matcha flavor even though this IS their regular matcha option, but the drink itself is SUPER creamy and nutty. i wonder how their pistachio matcha is in comparison since this already has a strong pistachio-like flavor. regardless, i do enjoy this drink but it is not something i'd get if you want a pure authentic matcha drink. RAW is a healthy plant-based store so how this drink tastes honestly fits in super well with their branding.
One of my favorite places for a post workout smoothie, açaí bowls and delicious burgers! Without fail, I find myself here a few times a month either post workout or in the mood for an antioxidant filled treat. For smoothies, I always opt for the Chocolate Protein or the Blueberry Nice Cream. Not too sweet, well blended smoothies that taste great. No stomach issues with their Chocolate Protein and makes for a great post workout recovery drink. All the bowls are delicious from the Cosmic Dream, Raw Bowl and Sunset Bowl! Whether you want acai or pitaya, the choice is yours. The toppings are generous and they do not skimp at all. Fruit is always fresh and beautiful looking, great presentation and quality. Burgers are slept on here, but I won't gatekeep. Their Avocado Truffle and Chipotle Mushroom burgers are so good! You get a choice of either Impossible, Beyond or Black Bean patties. I always opt for Impossible, because I prefer the texture more than it's counterpart. Super flavorful burgers on a defaulted Brioche bun. You can modify for GF buns or salad style. Service is fast, always friendly and for a small shop there is enough seating for pairs or groups.
I stumbled upon RĀW Superfood Café while looking for a healthy breakfast on the go, and placed a takeout order online. I arrived early, so I decided to wait inside for a bit. The interior was spacious, but didn't have a lot of seating (I think it's more of a takeout/delivery place). The design was very minimalistic, with only plants and a neon sign on the back wall as decor. There were a few other patrons there, placing their orders on the electronic kiosk. I definitely waited longer than I had to, so I recommend asking about your order status right away, since they don't call them out/send the email immediately. I got the Pistachio Matcha and Umami Melt, and both were amazing. The Pistachio Matcha was so creamy, had a great nutty flavor, and the perfect level of sweetness. I don't usually love matcha made with milk substitutes, but this was the best one I've tried. The Umami Melt came as three pieces of toast, and I was very happy with the portion size. The flavors of the umami spread, roasted garlic, Beyond crumbles, avocado pesto, and truffle oil went together so well. The smell and taste of truffle was especially strong, but not overpowering. Overall, I loved this meal - will happily return for more!
